Vector supports new UKTI public private partnerships brochure

UKTIVector’s John Davie in his role as Chairman of the UK Government's Advisory Group on  Public Private Partnerships (PPP) was in charge of the launch of the new UK Trade and Investment PPP brochure by Lord Mervyn Davies of Abersoch, Minsiter of State for Trade Promotion and Investment.

The launch included a reception which was held at Lancaster House last month for 200 key figures in the financial and consultancy sectors.  Among the guests were several ambassadors to the UK.

Vector remains involved in PPP projects in several countries.  Vector is a leader in the development of a type of PPP using the UK Private Finance Initiative as a basis that could be Shariah compatible.  The intention of Vector’s work in this field is to foster better social services through creating the opportunity for new infrastructure and better public services.  The genius of the UK PPP model, PFI, is in the creative tension created when private capital is put at risk.

Islamic finance carries ethical, social, political and religious dimensions that inform its structure.  Vector believes that financial institutions can foster social justice as well as generate wealth: a common position with the wider objectives of many of the commissioning agents of PPP projects.
