Objective
The Heathrow projects required detailed analysis to address multi-mode transport links, including bus routes, park & ride facilities, rail services and improvements to London Underground (metro) connections to the airport.
Services
Strategic Rail Planning Vector’s work on the Heathrow Express surface rail link between the Airport and West London was extended to cover operating requirements for services into the new Terminal 5.  The Terminal 5 layout was altered to facilitate subsequent extension to the west and south (Airtrack). Part of our review for Terminal 5 covered the Feasibility of track transit systems, or Automatic People Movers, to supplement the various surface access systems already in use around Heathrow.
Client benefit
Having appointed Vector to carry out strategic studies BAA have the best fit usage  plan for public transport around the Airport. This indicates how the rail catchment area to the South and West of London can be expanded.
