Objective
British Airways policy dictated that a hotel was needed to accommodate air crews whilst staying in New York.

Lack of a suitable vacant site, determined that a 7,500m2, 35 storey residential block with basements was to be converted .

Services
Project, Development and Cost Management

Vector’s senior management  provided a comprehensive project management service to British Airways.  The building was converted from a residential block to provide a 35 storey tower with four hotel rooms on each floor.

The façade was changed, plant replaced and the lift refurbished.  A new reception, bars, restaurants, meeting rooms were created in the first six storeys which had larger footprint.

Client benefit
This was a challenging project to convert an inefficient slender residential tower block into efficient hotel space.

Using the internal team that became the Vector senior management team there was no need to establish design standards which saved considerable time.
